At a time when rights and protections around the world are being diminished and harmful rhetoric is on the rise,TD remains steadfast in our ongoing and long-standing commitment to the 2SLGBTQ+ community. Safe and inclusive spaces that foster a sense of belonging are needed each and every day, not just during Pride. I had the honour of attending the annual Heart of the Youth Community Pow Wow in Prince Albert, SK on May 31, with fellowTDcolleaguesNicole Beaton, MBA,Amber Pilon (L'Henaff), Ryan Barclay,Rick Laroque,Greg Dutchak CIM FMA FCSI,Hailey McRaeandStephen Mills.Thank you for inviting me to participate in this meaningful gathering hosted by Prince Albert Youth Outreach Inc., organized by youth volunteers from Indigenous communities who also performed dances and drumlines for the families, elders, youth and community leaders, local residents and sponsors in attendance.Supporting the Pow Wow and the community in Prince Albert is an important part of our commitment to working with Indigenous communities to take action and help foster inclusion.TD has a long-standing commitment to Indigenous Peoples, and we know wehave moreworkahead and a responsibility to drive meaningful ongoing progress. Celebrating Legends in Branch Banking is something I look forward to every year. I am still feeling the energy from joining our 2023 National Legends winners in Scottsdale, Arizona, recognizing the accomplishments they have helped us achieve across the Branch Network andTD.Region HeadsJulie Armour,Robert Ghazal,Nicole Beaton, MBA, Rujnoop (Nupi) Zubair,George Dalal, Anna Iacobelli, David Reilly,Laurence LevyandJenn Auldhosted a variety of special sessions and events throughout the multi-day program. Winners were also delighted to hear fromRaymond ChunandBharat Masrani. And we welcomed some very special guests, including Canadian Sports CommentatorRod Blackand NHL legend Mark Messier, who spoke to the importance of collective success on any team, no matter the arena. Some of our Branch Banking colleagues in Ontario and Alberta recently participated in an immersive learning pilot that was created through TD Invent, our approach to innovation.Baanu Ratneswaranand her team of innovators along with Michael J. Thompsonand the Customer Advice and Colleague Capabilities team collaborated on the pilot, which included three virtual reality(VR) working modules, where Branch colleagues practiced how to find empathetic solutions for customers, better understand customers to provide personalized advice and recognize unconscious bias.Toronto Branch Manager Michelle Davidand her team participated in the pilot, where new and long-time colleagues were able to enhance theirskillsets in an authentic and safe VR environment, retainwhat they learned at a higher rate and build their confidence and knowledge about the Bank.The immersive learning pilot was also featured atTDTech and Innovation Day in mid-May, an event where we share some of the incredible innovations our colleagues across the Bank are championing. ”The more we talk about mental health and normalize our struggles, the easier it becomes for others to understand and get the support they need,”TD colleague Lovepreet Randhawashares on TD Stories in honour of #MentalHealthAwarenessMonth.Thank you Lovepreet, for reminding all of us that it's okay to not be okay sometimes, and that looking after our mental health is just as important as our physical health.I encourage you to take the time to reflect on mental health and well-being, the ways we can better connect with others, build a sense of community, and checking in on those around us. We all play an important role in supporting one another and creating safe spaces at work. At TD, these are instrumental factors that make up our culture of care.
